Tiyo Satrio was born without arms or legs in Penawangan village, Ciamis Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The rare congenital condition came as a complete surprise to his parents. His mother, Mimi, had a normal pregnancy and was not told of his condition until the day after his birth.

Despite the absence of limbs, Tiyo has developed remarkable independence through determination and family support. He holds a pen in his mouth to write neatly in school notebooks and can even unwrap sweets using only his lips and tongue. For entertainment, he uses his chin and shoulder to operate a PlayStation controller, becoming skilled enough to compete with friends.

Tiyo attends SLB Firdaus, a special school for children with disabilities. Teachers describe him as intelligent and hardworking. Although he was in a lower grade, he could solve mathematics problems meant for higher levels, including multiplication and division. He is also strong in religious studies and remains a favorite among classmates for his cheerful personality and infectious smile.

His parents, Wawan and Mimi, provide round-the-clock care for daily needs such as bathing, dressing, and feeding. The family has faced financial challenges, as earlier state support reportedly stopped. Yet they have focused on helping Tiyo live as fully as possible.

Tiyo’s story has inspired people around the world. By refusing to let physical limitations define him, he demonstrates that resilience, creativity, and a positive spirit can open doors that might otherwise seem closed. His ability to learn, play, and engage with others stands as a powerful example of adaptation and quiet courage.
