When Molly Jo Miller was born weighing just 2 pounds, 1 ounce at 29 weeks gestation, she had already begun an extraordinary fight for life. The NDSS Times Square Video Presentation is an annual highlight of the organization’s advocacy efforts. Each year, the group chooses roughly 500 images of children, teens, and adults with Down syndrome from across the United States and other countries out of thousands of entries. These photos are displayed on large digital screens (jumbotrons) in the heart of Times Square, typically as a kickoff to the New York City Buddy Walk, one of the most visible public awareness events for the Down syndrome community. The presentation celebrates the value, individuality, and contributions of people with Down syndrome in a highly public way.

Molly Jo’s selection places her among hundreds of others whose faces light up one of the world’s busiest public spaces.
