GREAT NEWS AND SCARY NEWS: Josiah Has New Medical Teams
I have GREAT news and scary news about Josiah.
Josiah now has two neurologists, two cardiologists, two neurosurgeons, a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, and a speech therapist helping care for him.
In New Mexico, his family says he had primarily been treated through an emergency room. Now he has a primary medical team in Boston, Massachusetts, where most of his care is expected to take place, as well as a second team in Connecticut, where the family is currently staying.
This gives the family another medical team nearby with access to Josiah’s records if traveling to Boston becomes difficult.
The Scary News
Doctors are now addressing Josiah’s seizures.
His family believes the seizures may be related to the neurological stress and medical challenges he has experienced, but his doctors are continuing to evaluate the cause.
Josiah has been scheduled for a weeklong EMU stay beginning September 10.
During this hospital stay, doctors will closely monitor him while evaluating whether he still needs his current medication.
Because the family expects the hospital stay to require constant support, Josiah’s mother says she needs to remain by his side.
That creates another major challenge for the family.
Since Nikoli cannot stay at the hospital during the EMU admission, the family needs Levi to relocate to Connecticut before September 10 to help care for Nikoli.
The family says they are now trying to raise $6,000 to help with relocation expenses, housing, transportation, and other bills while they focus on Josiah’s medical care.
They say they are worried about keeping their housing and vehicle during this difficult period and are asking for help from their community.
