Twelve-year-old Xavier Taylor’s life changed in an instant when a baseball struck him in the neck during warmups with his Maple Shade Youth Baseball team. He collapsed and went into cardiac arrest before being airlifted to Cooper University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition on life support.
Since then, his family, teammates, coaches, and the wider baseball community have surrounded him with prayers, messages, donations, and unwavering support. His father, Gregory Taylor, has called the incident a tragic freak accident and said there is no one to blame.
For Xavier, baseball has always been more than a game—from playing on three teams to collecting more than 200 player signatures during a recent trip to Florida for spring training.
