Still Waiting for Home: Baby Ada’s Long Hospital Journey

Baby Ada is only weeks away from turning one, yet she has never known home outside a hospital. Born almost 15 weeks early at just 1 pound, 5 ounces, she has spent nearly her entire life fighting one medical challenge after another.

Her earliest days were marked by the fragile reality of extreme prematurity. Machines, monitors, and constant medical care became the backdrop of her first months. Through it all, her parents stayed close, celebrating every small gain while navigating setbacks that came without warning.

Recently, her family believed going home was finally getting closer. Progress had been made, and the hope of bringing their daughter through their own front door felt within reach. Then two new infections struck. Ada needed much more oxygen, and the terrifying days returned, pushing the dream of discharge further away once more.

Now her parents continue to hold onto hope. They remain by her side through every hospital night, trusting that one day soon the doors will open and their baby girl will finally be carried into the home that has been waiting for her since the day she was born.

Ada’s story is still being written—one of resilience, of a family that refuses to give up, and of the quiet strength found in simply not letting go.
