A freak accident left a South Texas father crushed against his own horse trailer while checking on the animal he uses for work.
Randy Villanueva had to be flown to San Antonio with a broken pelvis and broken ribs, while his wife and two little children wait to learn just how difficult his road back will be.
His wife, Veronika, reached out to me asking for prayers after an ordinary day at work suddenly turned terrifying.

Randy is a tick rider, a specialized mounted inspector whose job takes him along the Texas-Mexico border on horseback, helping protect livestock from cattle fever ticks.
Veronika says Randy patrols south of Eagle Pass and was on his way to an area he was assigned to patrol when he pulled over to check on the horses he uses for his work.

That’s when she says another driver failed to see him and pinned Randy against the horse trailer.
Veronika says Randy is responsive, but doctors are still determining whether he will need surgery for his injuries.
And while Randy lies in that hospital bed, there are two very young children waiting for their dad.
They are only 1 and 4.

This is a rodeo family, and Veronika says their weekends are often spent taking the kids to youth rodeos.
She says Randy is a family man who would “take his shirt off his back for anyone.”
What she’s asking from all of us right now is prayer.

Please pray that Randy’s broken pelvis and ribs heal without complications, that doctors have wisdom as they determine whether surgery is necessary, and that this young father gets the chance to walk back through his own front door and into the arms of those two little kids.
Randy has spent years showing up for other people and their children.
This time, I hope we can show up for him. Post uplifting words here.
