6-Year-Old Alina Has Already Survived a Heart Transplant — Now Her Family Is Praying for Another Chance

Thalia reached out with a heavy heart about her 6-year-old niece, Alina.

Alina has already survived a heart transplant.

Now, her family says she is facing another serious medical battle.

According to her aunt and parents, Alina has been diagnosed with rare smooth muscle tumors, and doctors have told the family that her treatment options are extremely limited.

Her family says they were given a prognosis of only around six months, but they refuse to let that number take away their hope.

They are choosing hope.

Alina’s parents, Denzel and Sarah, say their daughter was diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy, a rare heart condition that eventually required a transplant.

On September 4, 2024, just five days before her fifth birthday, Alina received a new heart.

But her medical journey didn’t end there.

Her family says she has been hospitalized since May and was recently diagnosed with rare smooth muscle tumors that continue to grow.

According to her parents, they have been told that there is currently no chemotherapy option available to them that can stop the tumors.

Alina has now been bedridden for months.

She misses home.

She misses her bed and her toys.

And she desperately misses her three brothers.

Her family lives about two and a half hours from the hospital, leaving her parents trying to balance being beside Alina while also caring for their other children at home.

Now, Thalia says Alina is expected to be discharged after her current hospital has exhausted the immediate treatment options available to her.

But her family isn’t giving up.

“We refuse to give up hope. God has the last word.”

They are searching for advanced treatment options, second opinions, and specialists who may be able to help them understand what possibilities remain.

So I’m asking you to help this family in the way they requested.

Maybe someone reading this knows a doctor, specialist, hospital, or another family who has faced something similar.

And if you don’t have that connection, you can still give them what they asked for:

Prayers.

Pray for Alina.

Pray for Denzel and Sarah.

Pray for her three brothers who want their sister home.

And pray that somewhere, there may be another option this family hasn’t discovered yet.

Let’s surround this precious 6-year-old with an army of prayers.
