UPDATE: The Oklahoma nursing home scandal that began with allegations of degrading Snapchat photos has taken a major new turn, with additional court records and sentencing details revealing that the case involved three former employees — and far more disturbing material than was initially understood publicly.

The investigation centered on Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where former employees Jade Williams, McKenzie Bolfa and Aubrey Granata were accused of recording vulnerable elderly residents in humiliating situations and circulating the material among themselves through Snapchat. All three ultimately pleaded guilty to elder abuse and conspiracy.

What investigators uncovered went far beyond an inappropriate selfie.

According to reporting based on the criminal case, some recordings showed residents in extremely private situations, including while using the bathroom or partially unclothed. Other material allegedly showed employees mocking residents who had already passed away. Authorities also described footage involving inappropriate handling of a resident’s body.

Those details became especially significant because nursing home residents are often among the most vulnerable people in a community — relying on staff members not only for medical assistance, but for dressing, bathing, toileting and other deeply personal care.

The case first became public after a former employee reported concerns to authorities. Police eventually arrested the three workers in 2024 and prosecutors charged them with felony elder abuse and conspiracy.
