Multiple Suspects Charged in Murder of 17-Year-Old Khalil Simmons, But Family Still Demands Answers

Aiken County, South Carolina – Authorities have charged several individuals in connection with the April 13 shooting that killed 17-year-old Khalil Simmons and injured another teenager.
A 16-year-old suspect was recently arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Additional attempted murder charges were also filed against 18-year-old Jared Grant Marsh II and 17-year-old Tyler Hans Lariscey, who had been previously charged in the case.
Two adults, Tarah Alexander and Bryan Alexander, have been charged as accessories after the fact to murder.

Despite the growing list of arrests, Khalil’s grieving family says they are still searching for full transparency and answers from investigators.
Khalil was described by loved ones as a bright and promising teenager who dreamed of becoming an engineer. He was on track to graduate high school early and was known for his willingness to help family members with everything from fixing cars to repairing roofs.
His mother has repeatedly requested more information from authorities, including body camera footage from responding officers. While charges continue to mount, the family emphasizes that true accountability also requires openness from law enforcement.
“We gonna miss him dearly,” one family member said. “I want justice for Khalil.”
The shooting occurred on April 13 in Aiken County. Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
As the legal proceedings move forward, Khalil’s family continues to mourn the loss of a young man who had a bright future ahead of him.
