Tragic Long Island Stabbing: Man Dies in Father’s Arms After Alleged Attack by Acquaintance

Massapequa, New York — A peaceful evening at a family home on Long Island turned into a nightmare when desperate cries of “MOM! DAD! PLEASE HELP ME!” echoed through the house, marking what would be the final words heard by a young man’s family before he died in his father’s arms.

According to Nassau County police, 28-year-old Robert “Bobby” Carragher was fatally stabbed in the neck while sleeping in the basement bedroom of his parents’ home on Beaumont Avenue early Monday morning. Police say 22-year-old Kristin Sculley, described as an acquaintance of Carragher, allegedly attacked him with a pocketknife, striking an artery.

The pair had met up earlier that night, spending several hours watching television together in Carragher’s basement room after returning from a bar. For reasons still under investigation, Sculley allegedly became angry and stabbed Carragher as he slept around 1:30 a.m.

Bleeding heavily, Carragher managed to make his way upstairs, where his frantic pleas for help alerted his parents. He collapsed in his father’s arms in the kitchen and was pronounced dead despite efforts to save him.

Sculley, who was wearing a white smiley-face hoodie when arrested, was later found hiding in the lower level of the home. Officers recovered a pocketknife believed to be the murder weapon. She was charged with second-degree murder, pleaded not guilty at her arraignment, and was remanded to jail.

Friends and family of Carragher filled the courtroom, visibly distraught as details of the killing were read aloud. The suspect’s family declined to comment as they left court.

This shocking case has left the tight-knit Massapequa community reeling, with many struggling to understand how a casual meetup between longtime acquaintances could end in such violence. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine a possible motive.
