According to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) statement, Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez entered the United States on a B-2 visa but did not depart after it expired in December 2001. He was granted DACA in 2014.

The FBI and law enforcement partners arrested Alvarez and four other co-conspirators in connection with the alleged plot targeting the June 14, 2026, UFC event on the White House South Lawn. Court documents and official releases describe plans involving explosive-laden drones to trigger evacuations, followed by sniper teams targeting “high-value” individuals, including government officials, amid the chaos.

The group, which reportedly included around 23 members in discussions, faced federal charges including conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit violence on White House grounds. Alvarez, arrested in Omaha, Nebraska, was identified as the ringleader who planned and directed the operation via encrypted communications.

DHS emphasized that Alvarez “should never have been allowed in our country” and confirmed he will face justice before removal proceedings.

The event itself proceeded without incident thanks to the swift intervention. Investigations continue into the full scope of the alleged conspiracy, which authorities say was disrupted following tips that included family concerns leading to one suspect’s identification.

This case has reignited debates around immigration enforcement, visa overstays, and national security vetting for programs like DACA. Officials stress that the plot posed a serious threat to public safety and high-profile attendees.
