CHILD DEATH INVESTIGATION IN BROOKLYN: COUPLE CHARGED AFTER 3-YEAR-OLD BROUGHT TO HOSPITAL
Authorities in Brooklyn are investigating a deeply disturbing case involving the death of a 3-year-old boy, identified as Kyng Davis, whose body was brought to a hospital in East Flatbush on March 9, 2025.
According to prosecutors, the child was taken to SUNY Downstate Medical Center by his mother, 25-year-old Sunshyne Davis, and her boyfriend, 39-year-old Robert White. Medical staff immediately became concerned after being presented with the child, prompting further questioning and investigation.
Officials say that after speaking with hospital personnel, the couple left the facility and drove away.
The case was later escalated to law enforcement, and an investigation was launched into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Kyng Davis died as a result of child abuse, including blunt force trauma and severe neglect. Authorities also cited starvation and dehydration as contributing factors in the death.
Investigators allege that Davis and White had been living in a vehicle at the time of the incident, raising additional concerns about the child’s living conditions prior to his death.
Court documents further state that Robert White had previously been arrested in March 2025 on a second-degree assault charge, after allegedly striking the child multiple times in the face.
Both suspects have since been identified as central figures in the ongoing criminal investigation.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding motive, and the case remains active as prosecutors continue to gather evidence.
Community members and child welfare advocates have expressed shock and grief over the circumstances, calling attention to the importance of early intervention in suspected abuse cases.
As the legal process moves forward, officials say their priority is ensuring accountability and understanding how such a tragedy was allowed to unfold.
