Community Mourns Tragic Loss of Three Young Brothers in Cumberland County Crash

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County community is grieving the heartbreaking deaths of three young brothers who lost their lives in a single-vehicle crash on Cedar Creek Road.

The victims have been identified by family as Jae’ Coda Thomas, 3; Ju’ Mari Thomas, 6; and Jack Thomas IV, 8. Two of the boys were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third was airlifted to UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to authorities, the crash occurred shortly before 10:50 p.m. on June 3, 2026, when a 2018 Kia Forte driven by their mother, Megan Scott, 30 or 31, left the roadway and struck a tree. Troopers reported that Scott was traveling at approximately 111 mph in a 55 mph zone. None of the children were properly restrained in car seats.
