The accomplice of the man who fatally shot NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller has been sentenced to five years in prison, bringing a close to one chapter of the tragic case.

Lindy Jones pleaded guilty to a felony gun charge tied to the March 25, 2024, shooting in Far Rockaway, Queens. He was behind the wheel of a Kia Soul when officers approached the vehicle. Moments later, Guy Rivera allegedly opened fire, killing Detective Diller.

Jones appeared in Queens Supreme Court clutching a Quran as he entered his plea and received his sentence.

Detective Diller, a beloved member of the NYPD, was remembered as a hero who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting his community.
