Woman’s Shocking Revelation: Inside the Filthy Hellhole of Australian M.u.r.d.e.r Suspect Simon Carman as New Horrors Emerge

A woman who entered the apartment of Australian suspect Simon Peter Carman provided a chilling glimpse into the chaotic and unsanitary conditions inside the Pattaya unit where 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla is believed to have met her tragic end. The revelations paint a disturbing picture of a disordered lifestyle that allegedly preceded one of the most shocking crimes to grip Thailand in recent months.

According to accounts, the 45-year-old Perth man, originally from Ballarat, Victoria, had been living in a modest Jomtien condominium complex for several months, paying a relatively low weekly rent. The apartment on the 15th floor, where the incident allegedly unfolded, was described as extremely messy, with piles of dirty clothes scattered across the floor, empty bottles of spirits, and various household items cluttering the small space. One visitor noted the disarray immediately upon arrival, a detail later echoed in messages sent by the young victim herself.
Tunchanok Donhomla, affectionately known as “Nong Cake” or “Cake” to her family and friends, was a 17-year-old from northeastern Thailand who had only recently arrived in the Pattaya area. CCTV footage captured her walking hand-in-hand with Carman into the building around 3:34 a.m. on June 25. Shortly after entering the apartment, she reportedly sent a message to friends via a popular messaging app, reassuring them that she had arrived safely but commenting on the untidy state of the room. This would tragically be one of her final communications.

Police allege that a dispute over payment for sexual services escalated inside the unit, leading to the teenager’s death by strangulation. Carman has claimed self-defence, stating the girl threatened him with a knife during an argument. Investigators, however, have gathered significant evidence, including CCTV showing him later transporting a large black suitcase on a motorbike and returning without it. The victim’s body was discovered stuffed inside the suitcase near railway tracks several kilometres away, along with some of her personal belongings.
In the hours following the alleged incident, Carman reportedly continued his daily routine with apparent normalcy. Surveillance footage allegedly shows him shopping, eating, doing laundry, and moving about the complex while the body remained in the apartment. He was arrested at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport as he attempted to board a flight back to Perth.
Friends of the victim later visited the apartment after she was reported missing, confronting Carman directly. Photos from inside the unit at that time revealed the squalid conditions: cluttered surfaces, discarded items, and a bare mattress. These images have shocked many, highlighting the contrast between the vibrant resort town and the hidden realities within some residences.

The case has sparked widespread outrage in Thailand, with Tunchanok’s family demanding justice and calling for the harshest penalties. The teenager was remembered as a helpful young woman with no history of trouble. As the investigation continues, forensic evidence, including analysis of the scene and the body, is being examined. Carman faces multiple charges, including murder, concealment and movement of a body, and offences related to a minor. He has denied the murder charge.
This tragedy has drawn attention to vulnerabilities in Pattaya’s nightlife scene and raised questions about personal safety. It serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers that can lurk behind seemingly ordinary encounters in tourist areas known for their vibrant but complex underbelly.
