Ohio “House of Horrors” Father Wanted for Indecent Exposure When 16 “Almost Feral” Children Discovered in Feces-Infested Home

Authorities in rural Vinton County, Ohio, uncovered a shocking case of child neglect when they executed a search warrant at a dilapidated home in Hamden and found 16 children living in deplorable conditions. The discovery came while attempting to serve an arrest warrant on the father, Gary Siders Jr., who was wanted for multiple incidents of public indecency.
Gary Siders Jr., 36, had allegedly exposed himself to neighbors on at least four occasions in May 2026 (May 23, 27, 29, and 31). The criminal complaint for these charges was filed on June 30—the same day deputies arrived at the home and stumbled upon the children, who ranged in age from 18 months to 18 years old.
Officials described the scene as one of the worst they had ever encountered. The children were allegedly confined for much of the past four years to a single 12-by-12-foot room littered with human waste and filth. Many appeared severely neglected, malnourished, and “almost feral,” with some unable to speak and an 18-year-old reportedly unable to spell her own name.
Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson stated, “They looked like almost feral animals. It was terrible,” emphasizing the profound educational and developmental deficits the children faced. Seven of the children required hospitalization, with two airlifted to trauma centers and one in critical condition.
Arrested and charged with multiple counts of child endangerment were Gary Siders Jr., his wife Elizabeth Siders, 33, and his parents Gary Siders Sr., 73, and Christina Siders, 66. Each faces up to 16 counts of second-degree felony child endangerment, with bonds set at $300,000. If convicted, they could face significant prison time—potentially up to 192 years combined.
The family had reportedly moved between counties over the years, keeping a low profile with no school or medical records for many of the children. It remains unclear if all 16 are biological children of Gary Jr. and Elizabeth, though her attorney has indicated she is believed to be the biological mother of all. The couple married young in 2008 when he was 18 and she was 15.
All 16 children were placed in the temporary custody of the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services and are receiving medical evaluations and care. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities describing the situation as an intra-family matter rather than involving broader trafficking.
This case has horrified the community and spotlighted severe failures in child welfare oversight in one of Ohio’s poorest counties.
