2-Year-Old Brayden Tennyson Fatally Shot by 4-Year-Old Cousin During Florida Vacation to Celebrate Birthday: ‘Unimaginable Tragedy’

Kissimmee, Florida — A family vacation to Central Florida ended in heartbreaking tragedy when a 2-year-old Georgia boy was accidentally shot and killed by his 4-year-old cousin at a vacation rental. The incident occurred as the family arrived to celebrate the toddler’s upcoming third birthday.

Brayden Tennyson was inside a vehicle when the young relative found an unsecured firearm and discharged it, striking him. The boy was rushed to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The shooting happened around 4 p.m. Sunday at The Cove East at Storey Lake rental community.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. No charges have been announced against the adults, but authorities emphasize the importance of secure firearm storage. The case has renewed calls from gun safety advocates for responsible gun ownership.
