Indianapolis Teen Massacred His Family, Killing 5 and Unborn Baby, in Horrific Shooting Spree

A devastating family tragedy unfolded in Indianapolis on January 24, 2021, when 17-year-old Raymond Childs III allegedly shot and killed five family members, including his father, stepmother, siblings, and his brother’s pregnant girlfriend, along with her unborn child. His 15-year-old brother Xavier Childs was the sole survivor, despite being shot multiple times while pleading for his life.
According to court testimony, the violence erupted after the father disciplined Raymond for leaving the house without permission. Xavier later told police he heard gunshots upstairs and his 13-year-old sister Rita screaming that Raymond had shot their brother Elijah. Raymond then allegedly continued the rampage throughout the home before chasing Xavier outside.

Xavier, covered in blood, staggered to a neighbor’s porch and begged his brother not to shoot him, even offering $40. He was shot several more times but miraculously survived to identify the shooter.
The victims were:
- Raymond Childs Jr., 42 (father)
- Kizzie Childs, 42 (stepmother)
- Elijah Childs, 18 (brother)
- Rita Childs, 13 (sister)
- Kiara Hawkins, 19 (Elijah’s pregnant girlfriend)
- Baby Khaos Hawkins (unborn)
Raymond Childs III was convicted and sentenced for the murders. The case remains one of the most shocking family annihilations in recent Indiana history, leaving a young survivor to cope with unimaginable loss.
