Earlier that evening, around 7:30 p.m., a 911 call from the residence was received but quickly hung up. When dispatchers called back, the caller—believed to be Paris’s mother, Breyonne D. Dorsey—claimed it was a mistake and that everything was fine. Investigators later linked this to the timeline of events.

Police determined that a domestic altercation had occurred between Dorsey and her boyfriend, Christopher Butler. During the incident, furniture was reportedly overturned, and Paris sustained multiple blunt force injuries. The West Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide caused by these injuries. Officials emphasized that the initial story of a dresser falling on the child did not match the evidence at the scene.

Evidence of Obstruction: In a press conference on Wednesday, July 8, Addis police explained that despite being a victim of domestic violence herself, officials allege Breyonne D. Dorsey played a role in covering up her daughter’s death. Investigators found evidence that Dorsey had been cleaning up and hiding items at the scene after the incident. Both Dorsey and Butler have reportedly not cooperated with the investigation.

Dorsey, 30, faces charges including principal to second-degree murder, two counts of felony domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, and obstruction of justice. Her bond was set at $1 million. Butler, 33, turned himself in and faces charges of second-degree murder and domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, with a $2.5 million bond. Both have prior convictions, including a 2021 case involving Dorsey that resulted in probation and a no-contact order with Butler.
