The Dallas County Medical Examiner ruled the death an accidental drowning.

• On July 9, 2026, 19-year-old Lucas Roper was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence (a third-degree felony). A 17-year-old juvenile was also charged in connection with the case. Roper was released on a $10,000 bond.
