Mechanicville, New York — Investigators in the deaths of a grandmother, her daughter, and four grandchildren are not ruling out the possibility that the children’s mother may have been involved alongside the grandmother.

Amy Steadman, 64, Sarah Myers, 44, and Myers’ four children — Harper Harmon, 13; Hudson Harmon, 11; and twins Gavin and Gracelynn Harmon, both 10 — were found dead inside Steadman’s Harris Avenue apartment on June 23, 2026, after a neighbor requested a welfare check.

Police initially said evidence, including a handwritten note and signs of intentional poisoning with prescription and over-the-counter medications, “strongly suggests” Steadman was involved in the deaths. One child also suffered a fatal sharp-force injury.

In a recent update, Mechanicville Police Chief William Rabbitt stated: “We have not ruled out that Sarah Myers was also complicit in the deaths of her children.” He declined to provide further details, noting that toxicology results are still pending and more information may be released next week.

Myers had been involved in a custody dispute with the children’s father, Brady Harmon, who lives in Utah. Harmon last spoke with the children on June 7 and described them as happy. A funeral for the four children was later held in Utah.

The investigation remains ongoing.
