BREAKING: US Marine veteran Robert Gilman, imprisoned in Russia for more than four years, is reportedly close to death.
According to his sister and hostage advocacy groups, Gilman has been held since 2022 on what supporters call trumped-up charges. They allege he has been tortured and forcibly injected with mind-altering drugs while in custody.

In June he slipped into a dissociative stupor. He is now being fed through a tube, cannot communicate, and keeps his eyes shut. Family and advocates say he is not receiving adequate medical care and may not survive without urgent treatment.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has raised Gilman’s case directly with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The White House and State Department have repeatedly pressed for his humanitarian release so he can receive care in the United States.
Gilman’s original sentence was later extended after additional prison-related charges that his supporters strongly dispute.
An American veteran is fighting for his life in a Russian prison.
