The Lindsay Clancy trial has taken another dramatic turn as prosecutors presented new evidence extracted from Clancy’s phone, including internet searches, personal notes and text messages from the days and hours before the deaths of her three children.

The evidence is particularly significant because both sides are offering dramatically different explanations for what was happening inside Clancy’s mind before January 24, 2023.

The prosecution argues the digital evidence can help establish planning and intent.

The defense argues the same material shows a woman experiencing a severe psychiatric crisis, with symptoms that were not adequately recognized or treated.

One of the most closely discussed pieces of evidence came from Clancy’s internet search history.

A Massachusetts State Police sergeant testified that four days before the deaths, Clancy searched online for information about whether a person could be treated as a sociopath.

Other searches reportedly involved hallucinations, psychosis, suicide-related subjects and psychiatric medications.

Prosecutors can point to those searches as evidence that Clancy was actively thinking about serious psychological issues shortly before the tragedy.

But the defense has another interpretation.

Her attorneys argue the searches are consistent with someone desperately trying to understand disturbing thoughts and symptoms she was experiencing.
