But this is a story about good people who need prayers from good people like you.
Tony and Brianna Rico are from Wetumpka, Alabama. Their daughter, Iris, was born just a month ago.
Her parents were initially told that Iris might have only hours to live and were advised to take her home and keep her comfortable.
Iris was born with Trisomy 18, a genetic condition caused by an extra copy of chromosome 18. It can cause serious medical complications, including heart problems and developmental challenges.
Doctors had warned the family about how serious her condition could be.
But Iris is still fighting.
Now four weeks old, she is home, off the ventilator, and receiving significant oxygen support. She is also receiving nutrition through a feeding tube.
Her parents are taking things one day at a time and praying for their little girl every hour.
Tony told me:
“Doctors told us to take Iris home, for she only had days to live. That was a month ago.”
Brianna says they continue praying every day that Iris will keep fighting.
The family is holding onto faith and hoping Iris’s story will become something they never expected.
“We’re praying that God turns this into one of the most remarkable success stories ever,” Tony said.
