Randy had to be flown to San Antonio with a broken pelvis and broken ribs after, according to his wife Veronika, another driver failed to see him and pinned him against his horse trailer.

Randy is a tick rider, a specialized mounted inspector who patrols along the Texas-Mexico border on horseback while helping protect livestock from cattle fever ticks.

Veronika says Randy was on his way to an assigned patrol area when he stopped to check on his horses. That ordinary moment suddenly became a terrifying emergency.
