48 Hours, Two Boroughs, Two Violent Attacks: NYPD Hunts for Jesus Acosta

The NYPD has identified 31-year-old Jesus Acosta as the suspect wanted in connection with two violent incidents in Brooklyn and the Bronx within roughly 48 hours.

According to investigators, the first incident occurred on August 23, 2026, at American Best Wings and Pizza on Rockaway Avenue in Brownsville.

Police say Acosta allegedly attempted to rob the restaurant before opening fire.

Shortly after midnight on August 25, surveillance footage reportedly captured a gunman entering the deli and opening fire.

A 33-year-old customer was struck in the chest.

Police say the suspect then allegedly took belongings from the victim’s backpack and removed cash from the register before fleeing.

The wounded Bronx victim was transported to Lincoln Hospital and is expected to survive.
