Bungee Jump Instructor Charged in Student’s Death Reportedly Joked About Throwing Bodies Off Bridge

LIMEIRA, Brazil — One of the bungee jumping instructors now charged in the horrific death of 21-year-old student Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas had previously joked about throwing bodies off the same bridge, according to disturbing new reports.
Video reportedly shows the instructor and others filming a sick stunt at Skeleton Bridge, the same location where Maria was thrown to her death without her safety cord attached during an “airplane-style” jump.
Maria fell nearly 130 feet after instructors failed to connect her bungee rope. A witness has also claimed one employee removed a GoPro camera from her body after the fall.
The instructor’s alleged prior joke about throwing bodies off the bridge has intensified public outrage over the case, with many calling it a clear sign of negligence and a lack of seriousness about safety.
Three instructors have been arrested and charged with homicide. The companies involved face intense scrutiny as authorities investigate safety violations and whether warnings about the dangerous practices were ignored.
Maria’s family and the public continue to demand full accountability for what experts have described as “pure negligence.”
This tragic case has sparked nationwide calls for stricter regulation of adventure tourism in Brazil.
Our deepest condolences remain with Maria Eduarda’s family as they mourn her loss and seek justice.
The investigation is ongoing.
