Four-year-old Javeayah Harris is presumed dead after her parents confessed to her death and to concealing her body. Investigators believe she died at least a month before she was reported missing. Both parents are in custody, charged with homicide by child abuse.

The Emergency Call
On June 30, the mother, Michilae Herring, called emergency services to report Javeayah missing.
She claimed the child vanished while playing outside near a chicken coop.

The Investigation
Despite initial searches in Aiken, SC, evidence indicated the child had been deceased for over a month, with warrants alleging fatal injuries and denied medical care.

The Arrests
Parents Michilae Herring and Johmarea Harris were arrested and denied bond on charges of homicide by child abuse, with additional charges against the mother for filing a false report.
Law enforcement shifted search efforts to locations outside Aiken County to locate the child’s remains.
