NEW EVIDENCE RELEASED IN THE INVESTIGATION INTO TAKEOFF’S DEATH

Houston, Texas, May 29, 2026 – Federal investigators have released significant new forensic evidence in the 2022 murder of Migos rapper Takeoff, raising hopes for progress in a case that has remained largely unsolved for over three years.

Takeoff, whose real name was Kirshnik Khari Ball, was fatally shot on November 1, 2022, at the age of 28 outside a bowling alley in Houston. According to newly presented evidence, authorities have recovered clear surveillance footage showing a suspect identified as “Pat” standing near Takeoff moments before the shooting erupted.

Investigators also recovered a beverage bottle found near the rapper’s body that reportedly carries fingerprints matching the suspect. Cell phone location data is additionally being used to place the individual at the scene during the incident.

The deadly shooting occurred after an argument broke out involving Takeoff’s uncle Quavo and several others during a private dice game inside the bowling alley. Takeoff, who was not involved in the dispute, was struck by a stray bullet while standing peacefully outside with friends, making him an innocent bystander in the tragic altercation.

Prosecutors are now presenting this forensic evidence as the investigation gains renewed momentum. The development comes after years of frustration from Takeoff’s family and fans who have demanded justice for the beloved artist.

Following his nephew’s death, Quavo publicly distanced himself from certain circles in Houston and has since focused on his solo career while grieving privately. In previous interviews, Quavo described the loss as devastating, noting that Takeoff was like a son to him.

The case has drawn national attention not only because of Takeoff’s prominence as a member of the chart-topping group Migos, but also due to the circumstances surrounding his death. Many in the hip-hop community have used the tragedy to highlight the ongoing issue of gun violence.

The investigation remains active, and no suspect has yet been convicted in connection with the shooting. Authorities continue to urge anyone with additional information to come forward.

Takeoff’s death continues to reverberate through the music industry, with fans and fellow artists regularly paying tribute to the talented rapper known for his melodic flow and gentle personality both on and off the stage.
