BRISTOL, United Kingdom — A 16-year-old boy has been acquitted of murder and manslaughter in the death of 9-year-old Aria Thorpe, who died from a knife injury at her home.

The teenager, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions, claimed the incident was accidental. He told the court he was trying to scare Aria during play when the tragedy occurred.

Bristol Crown Court heard the evidence and ultimately found the boy not guilty.
