13-year-old Maddison, a Texas teen on the autism spectrum, is back in the hospital after suddenly losing function in her right leg.

Her family says Maddison had previously been recovering from injuries following an alleged school assault and had been receiving physical therapy.

During recent testing, doctors found issues involving her back and also discovered a small mass on her brain. Her medical team is conducting further tests to determine what it is and what may be causing her symptoms.

Maddison was supposed to start at a new school this week and was excited about making new friends. Instead, she is in the hospital working toward walking independently again while her family waits for answers.
