Her daddy spent more than 30 minutes performing CPR, trying desperately to save his 2-year-old little girl after she made it outside and into the family’s swimming pool.
Macie Mae ultimately could not be saved.
But three other children were.
The Rockwall-area Texas toddler, lovingly called “MooMoo” by her family, died after the drowning accident earlier this month.
Her father, Dylan, is an EMS supervisor and paramedic. A family member says he performed CPR until additional help arrived, and Macie was eventually flown to Children’s in Dallas.
Doctors found devastating damage to her brain.

Her parents, Dylan and Caitie, stayed beside their little girl as they faced the news no parent wants to receive.
Then they made sure Macie’s story would not end there.
Her family says Macie became an organ donor.
Her heart went to another child.
Her liver went to another.
And her kidney went to another.
Three children were given a chance to keep living because of a 2-year-old girl whose family was simultaneously saying goodbye.
Dylan wrote that everyone had been praying for a miracle for Macie.
“We did not receive the miracle that we wanted,” he wrote, but he believed God would work miracles through his daughter.
And now we know just how far those miracles reached.
Macie was remembered as a fiercely independent little girl with an infectious laugh who loved dancing, stealing snacks and shoes, getting into her momma’s makeup and celebrating loudly whenever her daddy came home from work.
Her obituary says she died in her parents’ arms, “safe, warm, and without pain.”
And there is another heartbreaking piece of her story.
Macie was a twin.
Her twin brother, Logan James, died before her.
Her family takes comfort in believing the two are together again.
Funeral services begin this evening.
