Astoria, Queens — The Queens father suspected of stabbing his wife to death in a gruesome murder-suicide came from a family with a tragic and violent history. Joseph Azzaretto, 33, was found hanging from a tree in Astoria Park early Tuesday, hours after he allegedly killed his wife, Mary Kate Golding, 34, in their nearby home.

Police say Azzaretto stabbed Golding before driving away from the scene. Chilling surveillance video captured him approaching a minivan near the couple’s residence in a seemingly nonchalant manner. He is believed to have confessed the killing in calls to family and friends shortly afterward.
