Missing Oceanside Nurse Angelica Brophy: Friends Highlight Last Text and Discoveries in Abandoned Car as Search Intensifies

Oceanside, California — Friends and family of missing 44-year-old emergency room nurse and mother of two, Angelica Brophy, are raising alarms over her final messages and troubling details found in her abandoned vehicle. Brophy vanished on July 6, 2026, after dropping her daughter off at summer camp and failing to pick her up later that day.
Brophy, described as an avid hiker, traveler, and marathon runner, was last seen on surveillance footage leaving Harrah’s Resort in Valley Center around 3:30 p.m. on July 6. A parking receipt shows her gray Hyundai vehicle entered Palomar Mountain State Park at approximately 4:20 p.m. Her car was discovered in the park’s parking lot on July 9, but Brophy was not inside.
Last Communications and Concerns from Friends
Friends, many of whom are fellow night-shift nurses, reported that Brophy did not show up for work and stopped responding to messages. One friend noted, “Something wasn’t right” with her final text, fueling speculation and urgency in the investigation. Loved ones are pleading for anyone with information to come forward.

Search Efforts and Vehicle Details
The vehicle was found roughly 50 yards from a pond in the park. Extensive searches involving California State Parks, San Diego County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, drones, dogs, and volunteers covered over 1,800 acres but yielded no sign of Brophy. Dive teams searched a nearby pond on July 12 and planned to resume operations.
Oceanside Police Department is leading the investigation. Her cellphone was either turned off or the battery died, as pings provided no further location data. Authorities have stated there is currently no evidence of foul play, but the case remains open.
Brophy is 5’5” tall, weighs about 130 pounds, with dark hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt and black leggings. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Oceanside Police Department at 760-435-4900.
