Family Mourns Shakiya Pridgen and Unborn Son Kyren Following Fatal Decatur Shooting

Decatur, Georgia — Loved ones gathered to remember 23-year-old Shakiya Pridgen and her unborn son, Kyren, after the young mother was fatally shot in her home. Family members described the heartbreaking loss and called for justice as authorities identified the suspect.

Pridgen, who was nine months pregnant and had recently celebrated a baby shower, was shot multiple times through her bedroom window early on June 16 while sleeping beside her young children. She was rushed to a hospital, where she and her unborn son succumbed to their injuries. Her two other children, ages 1 and 3, were unharmed.

DeKalb County police arrested 26-year-old Devin Anthony, identified by family as the father of the unborn child. He faces charges including malice murder, feticide, and aggravated assault with intent to murder. Anthony was taken into custody without bond.

Pridgen’s family expressed profound grief, noting she had been eagerly preparing for Kyren’s arrival. “This will not be the last time you hear from us. We will get justice for you, Shakiya, and Kyren,” relatives said.

The shooting has devastated the community, with tributes highlighting Pridgen as a devoted mother. Investigations continue into the circumstances of the incident.
